Design Jam
Magazine:
2024
Brief
Design a double-page magazine spread for Design Jam using grids, paragraph styles, kerning, leading and image placement to create a clean and engaging editorial layout. The aim was to ensure clarity and consistency across both print and digital formats, making the design adaptable whether readers are turning a page or scrolling a screen.
Creative Direction
The design takes inspiration from Paula Scher’s bold, expressive typographic style and her ability to balance structure with play. Large, dynamic headline typography and contrasting scales echo Scher’s approach, while the use of grids ensures readability and order. Red and black accents, paired with clean body text and modular image placement, reinforce hierarchy and guide the reader through the spread. This combination of strong typographic presence and clear editorial rhythm captures Scher’s influence while creating a contemporary, functional layout.
