Brief
Create two concept poster designs for the exhibition Unfold – A Celebration of Design Through Time, with each poster capturing and reflecting the distinct cultural identity of its host city, Tokyo and Marrakesh.
Creative Direction
The Tokyo poster draws inspiration from the famous Shinjuku Crossing, featuring bold diagonal lines, silhouettes and Japanese typography to evoke movement and rhythm, with a red focal point establishing hierarchy. The Marrakesh poster incorporates vector shapes inspired by the city’s architecture and landscapes, with Arabic typography for “Unfold” enhancing cultural relevance. The colour of the typography was derived from reference images of the tanneries, adding depth and contrast to the design. Both posters adhered to the brief’s emphasis on the design principles of hierarchy and unity, blending literal and abstract elements to create engaging and culturally resonant visuals.
